Please take a moment to read and support your athlete

This is the 11th year of the Veterans Day Dash. For those who don’t know about it, it is a 1/2 mile and 1 mile kids run on the track as well as a 5k on the campus. It is always held on the official holiday – a week day. This year it is Monday, November 12, 2018. This event raises money to support all three seasons: cross country, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field.

Typically the full load of work to put on this event falls on a very few shoulders. We need your help to change that.

The fall roster of boys and girls totals over 130 families. Winter and spring T&F families are welcomed too! There are many ways you can get involved, but for the Veterans Day Dash we hope that EVERY family will pick at least one of these:

1) Call or email a business owner and request sponsorship. We have athlete families that own businesses. Your family likely frequents many local businesses each week. Please take the time to identify a business and ask for their support. You can use the attached letter which offers some $ donation levels. We will also accept in-kind donations. (A big thank you to the families who have already agreed to sponsor.)

2) Drive registrations. After sponsorship, registrations are how we bring in revenue. Please share the registration link on your Facebook page, at work, and in your neighborhood. We are aware that many people will be working, but we do have a few workplaces that come run the race as a way to honor their employees who are veterans. Register Now (with a friend or two):

3) Volunteer to help with the race. We are in need of the following:
Sponsor Coordinator: someone who will follow up once the sponsors have confirmed, get logos, and ensure sponsorship commitment is fulfilled. (work is done prior to the race)
Marketing: social media posts, flyers to schools and businesses, flyers on cars at races, newspaper articles (prior to the race)
Volunteer Coordinator: someone to manage race day volunteers. We have outside groups and our parents, athletes and siblings who will be helping us for the day. (most work is done on the day of the race)
Veterans Ceremony Manager: someone who will manage our speakers and ensure the ceremony is on time and flows. (day of & inside)
Refreshment Manager: we will have food for post race and need someone to manage set up, distribution and clean up. (day of & inside)
Awards Ceremony: we need someone to set up awards table and to work with the timing company to present awards and then track what has not been picked up. (day of & inside)
Donation pickups: we need people to pick up water, food and other donations. (prior to the race)
Sponsor follow up: we need people to send thank you letters to sponsors. (post event)

Thank you for reading and getting involved. Questions, contacts and offers to help can be directed to Kristen Hislop.
